Fitz Kits came about from the need to make custom equipment quickly and cheaply.
I had to make custom serving stations, shelving and workstations for my catering business. Wood didn't do the trick and I was a terrible welder. All of the prefab shelving systems or other parts systems were too limited for my needs. But one day I found out about a system that has been used in "lean" manufacturing plants all over the world and it seemed like the perfect solution. Unfortunately it wasn't something I could get a small quantity of - I had to buy it basically like a factory would.
But once I got it in my hands, I loved building with this system, I felt like a kid who just got a new toy, because basically that's what it is - it's so easy to use it feels using an Erector set. I could design anything I wanted, it didn't matter how elaborate it was because it would still only take me a few hours to build it. Eventually I built myself a desk to hold 2 PCs and all my monitors. When I posted it online, others asked where they could buy it. I made it into a "DIY kit" because the workstations on the market are either insanely expensive, or cheap and simple, but insanely expensive to ship. That's why we don't include the wooden worksurface with the kits - we design the kits around commonplace, easily-sourced wood from local stores. You save money on shipping and on the workstation itself.
Our goal is to give regular home users a way to build their workspace as simply and as cheaply as possible. You can use our kits, design your own, or ask us for help in creating something for you. We make accessories that let you build shelves or other features to make kits more functional. Fitz Kits makes it so easy to build that a kid can do it, and makes stuff so strong that a factory can use it.
